“A snapshot of Seattle's underground electronic dance culture in the late 1990s”

Neophonics: A Documentary of Seattle's Electronic Dance Celebrations is a late-1990s film directed by Tom N. Hunden that captures the Pacific Northwest rave culture in the mid-1990s. The mostly interview-driven documentary highlights the underground electronic scene featuring local youth, promoters, and DJs. The film offers an infectious, historical snapshot of Seattle's early EDM culture. It features interviews with notable local and touring DJs like Donald Glaude, Grover, Goa Gil, Rob Atomic, and Beatseed. The documentary explores how underground parties were organized, often requiring partiers to call a hotline or pager to find out the secret location, the frequent police raids, and the techno-utopian mindset of early attendees
