Romania: State of Fear

Also known as Everyman: Romania - State of Fear

Romania: State of Fear is a compelling BBC documentary that provides a rare, clandestine look at life in Romania during the final year of Nicolae Ceaușescu's repressive regime. Filmed in secret, the documentary exposes the pervasive climate of fear maintained by the Securitate (secret police) and the dire economic consequences of the state's austerity policies, which left citizens struggling to secure basic necessities like food and medicine.
