The Sky and Khomroy –The children in Konthip Village in Thailand
空とコムローイ~タイ、コンティップ村の子どもたち
In Mae Sai, 150 children and young women from the Akha hill tribe live together as a family. The residence is managed by an Italian priest, Father Pensa, and a Thai woman named Noi. They frequently visit remote mountain villages to offer support to residents—who face the constant dangers of drugs, prostitution, and AIDS—while also watching over the children with deep affection as they grow. The film follows individuals like Yui, who contracted AIDS just as she was beginning to build a new family of her own, and her baby, Fa. It also highlights the resilience of the children, who—despite their youth—strive to live with independence and self-respect alongside their neighbors. Their inner radiance may well represent something that we, in our own lives, have lost.
