Also known as Neil R. Lamont

Neil Lamont is a British production designer whose career spans more than four decades across some of the film industry's most prominent franchises, including James Bond, Harry Potter and Star Wars. He began working in the film industry in 1980, joining the art department as an assistant on For Your Eyes Only (1981), where he worked alongside his father, production designer Peter Lamont. Through his experience and progression within the department, he developed into a supervising art director, earning an early senior credit on GoldenEye (1995). Lamont subsequently established himself as a leading figure in film art direction, working on a range of major productions. His credits include The Three Musketeers (1993), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994), The English Patient(1996), Titanic (1997), In Love and War (1996), The Avengers (1998), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Enemy at the Gates (2001). He also worked as supervising art director on War Horse (2011), Gambit (2012) and Edge of Tomorrow (2014). A significant chapter of Lamont's career came through his longstanding collaboration with production designer Stuart Craig on the Harry Potter franchise. He served as supervising art director across all eight films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and continuing through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011). His contribution to the franchise was recognised at the 2012 Art Directors Guild Awards, where he shared the Excellence in Production Design Award in the Fantasy Film category for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011). He also received the Guild's Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award as part of the creative team behind the entire Harry Potter film series. Lamont subsequently moved into production design on Star Wars, initially serving as supervising art director on J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). He then co-designed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) alongside Doug Chiang, marking his first production designer credit on a feature film. Their work earned a nomination for Excellence in Production Design in the Fantasy Film category at the 2017 Art Directors Guild Awards. Lamont went on to serve as production designer on Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), continuing his work within the franchise. He reunited with Stuart Craig as co-production designer on Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), continuing their creative partnership within the Wizarding World. His subsequent television work includes Alfonso Cuarón's psychological thriller series Disclaimer (2024), starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, for which he served as production designer. Earlier in his career, Lamont also contributed to License to Kill (1989), Total Recall (1990), The Three Musketeers(1993), Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994), The Young Americans (1993), The English Patient (1996), Titanic (1997), The Avengers (1998), Brokedown Palace (1999) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). His work on Titanic (1997), alongside his father Peter Lamont and the wider art department, was recognised with the Art Directors Guild's Excellence in Production Design Award for Feature Film in 1998.
