He subsequently achieved recognition playing antagonistic roles in the thrillers Baazigar (1993) and Darr (1993), earning his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the former. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Khan established himself in commercial Hindi cinema with leading roles in the romantic dramas Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), all of which earned him Filmfare Awards for Best Actor. His subsequent dramatic credits included the period romance Devdas (2002), the drama Swades (2004), the sports drama Chak De! India (2007), and My Name Is Khan (2010), earning four additional Filmfare Awards for Best Actor. As a producer, Khan co-founded the production and distribution company Red Chillies Entertainment.
