While in school, he started his artistic career with his friend Mitsuyoshi Inou.He is known for his many diary-like films, and his unique style, in which he gazes at his subjects in an indifferent manner, expresses the aesthetics and impermanence of the moments of daily life, and his style has been called “the insect’s eyes” or “eternal cinema.
