Eric Wolfhausen (born 1947 in Koszalin, Poland) is a Polish filmmaker known for his surreal imagery, dark humour, and grotesque explorations of human isolation. Originally trained in international relations, with an early academic interest in South America, Wolfhausen later became closely associated with Bolivia, where he worked on several Polish-Bolivian film productions. His debut, Golem jak placuszek (1969), introduced his peculiar blend of absurdism and bleak comedy. He is best known for Fantastic Town in Mauritania (1987) and The Milkman’s Soliloquy on Curdled Reality (1988), two radically different works that exemplify his fascination with distorted realities and the absurdity of everyday life. His final film, Ballada o miejscach, marzeniach i kradzieży (1995), was a French-Polish production. After 1992, Wolfhausen returned to Europe, dividing his time between Poland and France.
